We are gearing up for the busiest time of the year to kick in as summer holidays finish, and people jump back into the gym wanting to work off the Christmas excess. We are already seeing numerous members register for our upcoming 12 week challenge which is a great way to stay motivated and  smash those New Years resolutions,  however you won’t make it past the first week if you don’t take the time to learn how to perform your exercises correctly.

Good technique not only means that you are training the muscle in question effectively, but means that you are performing it in a way that won’t injure, potentially sidelining you from working towards your goals. The best way to check your technique? Have one of our fully qualified trainers take you through your program. Even better though, consider investing into regular Personal Training. You’ll not only be monitored for safe tecchnique, but will learn how to train with intensity and focus. They will push you harder than you would yourself and you WILL get results if you follow their instructions.

Well we are 4 weeks underway for the Fitnessplus Biggest Loser that started the beginning of June.

The showcase for this challenge will be Saturday 15th November 2014 at a local venue.  But as part of the show we are inviting novice bodybuilders to also take part in our novice and open bodybuilding show on the same night as the biggest loser showcase.

You do not have to be a member of Fitnessplus Gym, you don’t even have to be an experienced bodybuilder as there will be novice catergories for both male and female divisions (novice means you have never done a show or maybe have done 1).  We will also be having catergories for open or seasoned bodybuilders who have competed before so if your interested drop us an email to fitnessplus@fitnessplus.co.nz and we will send you through further information regarding nutrition and posing seminars that we will be holding at the gym.

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVE!

2013... what a year it has been...

my 2012 new years resolution was to lose 20kg, gain confidence & inspire others and I can gladly say that for the first time in my life I have achieved a new years resolution! (The picture below is Jan 17th to December 31st) I have had my highs & lows throughout the year, but giving up hasn't ONCE crossed my mind! I passed my second year of uni, participated in a biggest loser competition and placed 2nd, lost 20kgs in approx 6 months, maintained over Christmas, built muscle, beat personal bests, changed my entire lifestyle & motivated my family to jump on the same wagon! So crazy! Who would have thought.

I have met so many amazing people over the year, and wouldn't have been able to achieve what I have without them! Especially my trainer, Catherine. I know I have thanked you time & time again, but you seriously have no idea how much respect I have for you. What a journey it has been, and will continue to be. I can't wait to set new goals, and achieve them with you by my side! 2014 is going to be an extremely challenging but awesome year! and I can't wait!

I hope each and every one of you chose a resolution that benefits your health, because it is one of the best decisions I ever made.

My NY resolution is to learn to balance training, uni & work, learn to love cardio & learn to not sweat the small things

Life is too short, so make the most of it while you can!
